North Texas Highland Games
We are getting ready for the North Texas Highland Games which are coming up soon, June 4 & 5. Our dancers will be competing on both days. They will be dancing the Highland dances on Saturday. Pre-premier will be dancing in the morning. And Premiers will be dancing in the early afternoon......hopefully before it gets too hot. :)
On Sunday they will be dancing the National dances. Please remember to bring sunscreen, a hat, lawn chairs, and you can bring ice chest I believe.
Our dancers have been working very hard and I hope you each have a good time dancing!
Welcome to the Murphy Highland Dance School
Our dancers perform and compete traditional Scottish Highland Dancing. Highland dancing is a wonderful form of dance. Scottish Highland dancing is rich in Scotlands history. Our dancers dance such dances as the Highland Fling, Sword dance and national dances such as the Irish Jig, and the Sailors Hornpipe.
Our dancers range in age from 4 to adults.
New classes will be beginning in August.

We will be performing at Rogers Elementary School in Frisco this Friday.
They are teaching the Kindergarten and First grade about Scotland. A piper
will be there to pipe for them and the we will dance for them. And then there
will be a parade around the school lead by the piper. It sounds like a fun day for our dancers.
I will try to post photos as soon as I can.

Saint Patricks day performance

We were very lucky on St. Patricks day! We danced at a nursing home in the area and we're blessed to have a wonderful audience. We also had the good fortune to have the MaGuire Academy of Irish dance come and join us for the performance! The Irish dancers did some traditional Irish dances. The Highland dancers did some traditional Highland dances and a few non Traditional. And we threw in a country dance or two from each country. We all had fun dancing and the lovely people welcomed us and were such a delight to dance for the dancers look forward to when they can go back and dance for them!
